Trace hydrogen sulfide removal
A reliable and inexpensive device that removes minute amounts of hydrogen sulfide contained in petroleum products.
Trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide contained in petroleum products
A few ppm of hydrogen sulfide may be contained in the refining process of gasoline.
Conventional
hydrogen sulfide removal technology
In general, to remove hydrogen sulfide from petroleum products, etc., there is a method of separating hydrogen sulfide using a stripper, etc., and then converting it into elemental sulfur by the Claus reaction. However, this method is a complicated process at high temperature and high pressure, and requires expensive equipment and operating costs.
The technology of IH technology
The IH-hydrogen sulfide removal equipment
was developed with the goal of a low-cost, simple process that can remove
hydrogen sulfide, which is contained in very small amounts in petroleum
products, etc., at normal temperature and pressure.
In the development, we first used computational chemistry to construct a model
in which various metals are supported on activated carbon, and searched for the
optimal combination. As a result, we found several types of adsorbents that can
achieve the desired goals by supporting a certain transition metal oxide on
activated carbon.
After that, after selecting the optimal combination of hydrogen sulfide removal
performance with a column device, a large-scale experiment was conducted using
a reformed gasoline production unit that is actually in operation in Japan to
confirm trace hydrogen sulfide removal performance. I did.
As a result, we confirmed that hydrogen sulfide could be removed to 0.05ppm or
less, and established an extremely simple technology for removing trace amounts
of hydrogen sulfide.
Characteristics of IH trace hydrogen sulfide removal equipment
・Removes minute amounts of hydrogen
sulfide contained in petroleum products to a target of 0.05 ppm or less without
pretreatment
・Equipment cost is very low because it is only necessary
to install a new vessel to fill the adsorbent, or to fill the existing
unsaturated hydrocarbon removal vessel with the hydrogen sulfide adsorbent.
・Since utilities such as electricity, steam, and
industrial water are not required, operating costs are low.
・Because activated carbon with high hardness is used,
there is little breakage due to its own weight, and differential pressure does
not occur easily.
・The adsorbent has a long life (the replacement
frequency depends on the adsorbent filling amount), and the adsorbent after use
can be disposed of as general industrial waste.
Performance
Since 2016, the first unit has been in operation at a refinery in Ehime Prefecture. Since then, Units 2 and 3 have been in operation at the same refinery.
Since 2017, Units 1 and 2 have been in operation at a refinery in Chiba Prefecture.
Both of these devices are in good working order.
